One Response to “How to raise HDL (good) cholesterol?”
You have absolutely nothing to worry about. A ‘low’ HDL is a genetic condition. Aerobic exercise may increase it by 10% but this is not clinically relevant. Nicotinic acid may increase it by 10% but again this is not clinically relevant. Your LDL of 86 mg/dL (2.2 mmol/L for those not in the United States) is outstanding and your ratio of LDL to HDL is 3.4 which is fine. Your triglycerides are quite good and your glucose level is normal. Although the significance of a ‘low’ HDL continues to be debated it is a moot point as we have no way to increase it to a meaningful degree. Your overall numbers are excellent and your cardiovascular risk based upon these numbers is low. Please do not worry. You are a very healthy young lady. I wish you the very best of health and may God Bless.
