    Exercise.
At least 30 min of cardio each day.
Don’t eat any fried foods, decrease red meat and shrimp.
If it is that high, you need to be treated medically.
Whether Niacin treatments which are OTC, or a Statin, only a doctor should decide.

Diet alone probably will not do it. The body manufactures cholesterol and medication is the only answer.

ok hun. first relax. my doctor has told me that im also a walking heart attack (im only 22) so this is what u can do. no fried foods for one. carefull on what kind of milk u drink, dont drink whole milk. skim or 1% is best. watch ur dairy intake (bc of the fat) unless u get reduced fat or something like that. eat plenty of oats ( oatmeal, granola etc.) and pomegranate juice is awesome for u too…and cut all the fat off of ur poultry before cooking it…no pork, and lower intake of red meat.
good luck, and take care of ur heart :o )

Diet and exercise but if that doesn’t work, talk to your DR and he’ll prescribe meds for you.

A good way to lower cholesterol? Eat oatmeal…..and eat it with blueberries. Guaranteed liquid drano for your arteries.

Don’t worry, once you change your diet, it will drop. Eat healthy. Lean meats, lots of fish and chicken. Choose whole grain breads and cereals. Low fat milk products. Avoid fatty foods and too much sugar. And lots of fruits and vegtables.

My mom had very high cholesteral. She started eating oatmeal in the mornings (usually she ate nothing) and she started taking cinnamon capsules from the health food store. That is the only thing she changed (she’s a really active, healthy lady anyways) and her cholesterol has gone down by 10 points this month alone. Best of luck for you!

(I just called her and she said she found out about these by googling “reduce cholesterol”.)

HHA’s Cholesterol Balance lowers bad cholestorol levels.
HHA’s Forumula 1 with EDTA-is a heavy metal and arterial plaque chelator.
HHA’s Oral Chelate dissolves plaque in your arteries
HHA’s COQ10 provides excellent support for heart and arteries!

I put my dad on these and he no longer has high blood pressure and his arteries are no longer plaque ridden.

I am managing my cholesteral with diet alone. I explored the drugs on the market and did not like the side effects.

Suggestions I found from my research (some clinically proven, some anecdotal but apparently sound):
    - oatmeal 3-4 times a week. Add 1 T. lecithin, 1 T. wheat or oat bran, 1/4 tsp. cinnamon and molasses to taste.
    - a handful of almonds daily
    - 1/2 to 1 cup of blueberries daily
    - a T. olive oil daily

-avoid all trans fats (margarine as well as cookies, pie crusts etc. – anything made with margarine or shortening) – butter in moderation (say 1 T/day) is ok.
    - avoid red meats and cut visible fat from other meats. Remove skin from chicken.
    - avoid bacon
    - NO FRIED FOODS! NO FAST FOODS!

Rationale for some of the above:
    - cinnamon and some of the other foods mentioned have a reputation for lowering cholesteral. Use cinnamon whenever you can!
    - oatmeal and all brans help bind with cholesteral and remove it from arteries
    - lecithin is an emulsifier (i.e. it breaks up fats). Helps to dissolve cholesteral and wash it away. Can be bought in granules in any health food store. Practically flavorless; add it to casseroles, stir-frys or anywhere else you can think of besides your oatmeal.

After 90 days on this regimen, have your cholesteral checked again. You should be pleasantly surprised!

This approach may bring rapid results but it’s not a quick fix – rather a plan for life.

You should see your healthcare provider first and foremost. A cholesterol problem comes from two main sources – your body and your diet. Famiy history, genetics etc. plays the major role on your body. Many people, despite very strict diets, still have trouble maintaining “good” cholesterol levels and thus must turn to meds. Again, the best way to deterimine what you should do is to go to your healthcare provider and seek advice from him or her.
